 Joseph J. Visser: Artist's-Books

"Powerfull prejudices:
a. From the Fenician harbour named Byblos papyrus was exported in to Greece in order to make rols/volumes.
b. Greeks are clever + Greeks used papyrus for canons/laws.
c. God's word equals truth + Christians like to think He made their laws.
thus:
The Greek word for papyrus rols 'biblos' had every chance to turn into 'bible'; and rols are generally accepted as books, although they lack a striking resemblance (which keeps the field open to all of us to play any game we like).
and:
If one likes to be taken seriously, one puts one's words into a biblical volume/codex, rather than taking the line of playing in the playfield mentioned before." Joseph J. Visser

"I have always seen it as odd that a free fine artist is hardly ever regarded as being a publisher in his own right. As an artist I do everything myself including all trading aspects, as an artist-bookmaker I do absolutely everything; the entire process - form research and development of the idea, the study of the historic background and literature, the sketches, the typography, printing, painting, everythiong including the binding; and all that in all its endless new possibilities. And then we publish, exhibit and sell. Mind you, I had to find rather than any support that it brings one the distrust of about everyone."
