This collection of songs, a main corps of the historic traditionals have been collected by Robert Burns- be it altered here and there to the taste of time, as these things are - I have always admired Robert Burns for his poetry, especially for his deeply humane touch - even more I admire this greatest of 'Scotch Bards' for his inspiring travels through the country in order to meet people with special knowledge of certain songs, or indeed find new ones. I have traveled Scotland more than once and I see myself as someone who can understand a bit of walking - walking also in the times of Robert Burns: it was rather than anything a serious persuit of his for which we can hardly bethankful enough.
For country walkers with an interest in literature, poetry, country houses and their family histories, nature, and music here is a beginning: Robert Burns travels
